THQ Quilts Grand Opening Tender Heart Quilts had it's Grand Opening July 2, 2004. The Bath County Chamber of Commerce performed the ribbon cutting ceremony with a gathering of family and friends. Owned and operated by Cheryl Thompson, the shop was dedicated and blessed by Rob Sherrard, Pastor of Windy Cove Church. The goal of the shop is to provide quality quilting fabric and supplies, and to spread the love of quilting to others and the love of God through quilts in our mission work

"Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart." -Psalm 37:4

THQ Quilts OwnerCheryl was a nurse by profession since 1988 before turning her heart's desire of quilting into store ownership. " I love what I do and the people I meet here at the shop. I still work part time as a nurse, but owning my own shop has been a dream come true".

 Cheryl's son

My son who helps out a lot at the shop. He is holding a basket he makes to sell in the shop. He helped his dad build the shop and does a lot of the chores around the building.

Mittens, the shop kitty. This is Mittens, she was our shop kitty until October 11, 2006, when she was killed by a car. She loved to lay around on her favorite chair or whatever someone was working on, but she would get up to greet customers at the door. She also loved all the attention she got here. She never knew a stranger. She was 5 years old and a mixed Siamese. Although we know she is in "kitty heaven," she is dearly missed by us all.

The building was actually a small 1 room store in the 1950's & 60's that my husband's (Wade) grandfather ( Ben Black) had as a little general store here that he built years ago. After he passed away it was sold and used as a hunting camp. We bought it back in 1996 in hopes of opening it back up one day as a craft and quilting shop. We started working in the Fall of 2002 through Spring 2004 and opened up here in June 2004. We added on to it and fixed it up and my husband did most of the work with his dad and brother helping. We have 3 sons who helped also. It is neat to have brought this shop back to life and a family business again and to carry on a family tradition in quilting. Both of Wade's Grandmother's were quilters and both of my Grandmothers were crafter's and sewers too. It is good to carry on that family legacy and hopefully I can pass that onto my grandchildren too. I have been sewing and doing crafts as long as I can remember and I started quilting about 8 years ago when I was a stay at home mom and I have been hooked on it since.
